What I'm about to say applies just as much to appliances but making people think they can do everything with one-click breeds a load of ignorant and lazy "sysadmins" with very capable, very connected and extremely exploitable Linux servers sitting exposed (by design) on home networks. https://yunohost.org/#/security That is why I no host. Unless the system is kept up to date automatically it's going to be vulnerable to something. All the web applications also seem to be exposed to the Internet directly which makes things even more dangerous. They all seem to be running PHP, presumably under the same user, so it probably takes only one security hole to compromise the whole thing.
Looking through the site and documentation, this might be exactly what I’m looking for in a self-hosted solution I could open up to my network of friends. I’m already imagining how to set up a game server to support our different TTRPG sessions, and developing against this platform with that in mind seems like a nice side project to work on.
