Reminds me of when I tried to use the library of babel as a data compression tool. It led me down a fun rabbit hole and was my first introduction to information theory. Now, we all know that it can take a while to find a long sequence of digits in π, so for practical reasons, we should break the files up into smaller chunks that can be more readily found. In this implementation, to maximise performance, we consider each individual byte of the file separately, and look it up in π. Definitely worth a chuckle. Very cute idea and implementation.

I've been working on an alternative implementation of this but using tau instead, I'm not sure if my calculations are correct but I think it offers a 2x speedup over this method. It's still in stealth mode but I'm hoping to unveil it sometime in late June.

I had an idea for a file transfer system based on digits of pi. You'd give everybody DVDs of digits of pi (or they could calculate them themselves) , and then transfer files faster by just sending them the offset into pi. At the time I thought it could work with a big enough bank of digits of PI on both sides.
