Its funny I worked for a startup that got acquired by Comcast, and eventually we started having to follow the Comcast security policy which made us change domain passwords every month with requirements around using strange characters etc. I'd say about 50% of the people ended up with their current password on a post-it on their monitor or desk.

Algorithmically generated passwords for different sites was a mind-blower. There are so many differentiation algorithms that are trivially runnable in your head. If most sites are salting and hashing passwords correctly (this is 2023...), then that drastically decreases your compromised credential blast radius. -- And it makes me sad that "store your passwords on dead-tree paper" became GOTO. It has serious weaknesses, but also serious strengths... especially in a post ~2005 always-on, networked-everything world…

Or use Password Gorilla: https://github.com/zdia/gorilla/wiki And then you don't have type the random cryptic passwords you should use. It will copy them to the clipboard so you can paste them into the website's login/password boxes.
