Sponsorblock is not as blunt a tool as people make it here. You can only block specific type of ads and you can whitelist whole channels which I do for some niche channels I subscribe to. In Android, I use Tubular [1], the NewPipe fork that integrates Sponsorblock and ReturnYoutube Dislike. My only additional request in this awesome app is if we can download the video after snipping out the sponsor block sections. [1] https://github.com/polymorphicshade/Tubular

I really don't like how most sponsored segments are just downright misleading about what VPNs do. Making them funny doesn't change the fact that the ads are deceptive. There's always some fearmongering about people stealing your data on public networks, but no actual substance about feasible attacks that could happen in reality. In the UK, similar ads have been banned by the advertising regulator for being misleading, and it's about time that spurious claims in YouTube videos got more scrutiny.

People here likely know SponsorBlock but I suppose many don't turn on all of the skippable segments that SponsorBlock can also skip, which aren't necessarily on by default. I save so much time not having to watch all of the filler content that's unrelated to the actual video topic at hand. It's especially nice on mobile, with ReVanced on Android.
