HN comment orderAh, "code once. deploy everywhere." Few examples of marketing to engineers spark quite the same level of skepticism as this oft-repeated claim. Ignoring, for a moment, the complexity of deploying software across multiple platforms, it's important to remember the multiple form-factor problem. The same software doesn't work from a user's standpoint on multiple platforms if the UI isn't correct for that device. The best example I can give is "mobile versions" of sites and apps, clearly targeted at the form…
Ah, Haxe...we used it to build the video player at Justin.tv, because it had a reasonable build pipeline to SWF and some nice language features. I rather enjoyed the language. Certainly, it's a lot nicer than working in Flash directly.
I have a few bugs I've encountered over the weekend: 1. Please either fix the OpenFL installer or make sure download links are backwards compatible by adding a redirect. (I'm assuming both projects…
I used to work with Actionscript and Haxe came from the guy who wrote Mtasc, so we were quite excited.
