HN comment orderFirebug, along with web developer toolbar, changed everything for me. I learnt web development on IE6 by editing html in notepad. I switched to Firefox for tabbed browsing and because it was faster. When I discovered firebug I almost couldn't believe it. What the hell had I been doing up to this point? Why doesn't everyone know about this? Later I discovered that Chrome had it built in and still most web devs hadn't heard of firebug.
Wow, i almost forgot about Firebug. From my point of view it was really a game changer. The first time debugging and understanding web-applications became accessible. Probably all browser dev tools were inspired by this tool
In my opinion Firebug started a revolution in web development, making JS webapps feasible for regular devs for the first time. Thank you for giving us a lot of the interfaces and tools that live on as "developer tools" in today's browsers.
