Cue: A new language for data validation

It looks like an alternative to Jsonnet which has schema validation & strict types. IMO, Jsonnet syntax is much simpler, it already has integration with IDEs such as VSCode and Intellij and it has enough traction already. Cue seems like an e2e solution so it's not only an alternative to Jsonnet, it also removes the need of JSON Schema, OpenAPI, etc. so given that it's a 5 months old project, still has too much time to evolve and be mature…

FWIW, the best intro to CUE I’ve found so far is: https://bitfieldconsulting.com/golang/cuelang-exciting …which does a nice job of starting from the problem, and building up from "how could we improve JSON for use as a config language" to arriving at CUE. (Those types of explanations happen to resonate with me, including understanding the "why" first at least for me helps the mechanics and details later make more sense and feel more intuitive…)

I spent some time experimenting with CUE in 2020 and would handily recommend it if you need something resembling "configuration with constraint solving behaviors". It can be a bit surprising in that when it terminates evaluation, you don't always have a clear mental model of how it got to that answer. But that's also the part that it does well at automating.
