HN comment orderI learned about Carbon maybe three years ago. Back then the README example looked like this: https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/10369094/30791512-... Now it looks like https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/8397708/63456416-b... complete with weird cursive font and all. IMO this niche obsession with cursives, ligatures and stuff in programming fonts actually hurts first impression for a significant percentage of people landing on this README.
I don't understand why there are many negative comments in this thread to this project. I've used Carbon many times to paste good-looking code in a PowerPoint presentation, and the result is clean and attractive. Big thank you to the people behind it.
I love the appearance of it, but there are very few cases where sharing un-copyable blocks of code is actually what you want. Let's say you're making a programming tutorial, or you're publishing an open source library and want to provide a website with code examples. Appearance is important, of course, but your audience will want to copy/paste your examples. I feel like this should be a CSS generator for styling the <code> or <pre> tag. If you really want…
