I don't mind the small screen for reading novels, but a text book or PDF probably won't happen. I personally prefer the decoupled model of the PC: buy any hardware, install any OS. At the moment, KOReader[1] runs on Kindle, Kobo, PocketBook, and many other e-readers – and is completely open-source. [1] http://koreader.rocks/
