I'm confused about why this site keeps making the rounds, because it's been in the exact same unfinished state for something like five years now. Patricio keeps promoting the unfinished work without working on it. The intro content is good but it's been stuck in intro mode for years. It's just a strange self promotional situation.

As others have pointed out, this book is incomplete (and has been for some years), though it is considered foundational by many. A different intro I particularly enjoyed is A Journey into Shaders[0], which succinctly covers signed distance functions and leaves you with a small finished project. I actually wish this site would stop making the rounds now, because it's abandoned and will never be updated to be a complete shader tutorial.

Excellent. I love how shaders have progressed from "a clever hack to do fancier things in the hardware" to "a general-purpose parallel computing coprocessor." Particularly fun is how best practice these days is to do as much as you can in the shader. Where is the object's position? In this texture. Okay sure but where's its velocity? In that texture, so we can just update the position by re-rendering the first texture. Okay, but we need to accelerate these objects…
