Appreciate how the article documents the physical side of floppy interface and how a track is selected and read. Then there's the (several) formats of tracks and sectors, which are left out of scope. Mature open-source alternatives include GreaseWeazle[0] and FluxEngine[1]. They are also cheap and effective, based on off-the-shelf parts. 0. https://github.com/keirf/greaseweazle/wiki 1. https://cowlark.com/fluxengine/index.html

I read "Notes on Floppy Disks" <https://extrapages.de/archives/20190102-Floppy-notes.html> last night. It, along with this, really makes the technology seem much more accessible to a non-electronics professional like me. These help make the various floppy emulator devices I've got for my retro-computing habits seem more understandable. (It also really makes me want to build some electronics skills, too!)

There's a lot of interesting Greaseweazle-y floppy development being done at Adafruit right now. Some days they're posting multiple videos a day showing progress updates. https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit_Floppy (here are some representative posts) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQvzZKNvRM0 https://blog.adafruit.com/2022/01/16/5-25-floppy-reading-wit... John Morris's Applesauce floppy disk controller hardware and software project continues to add functionality. https://applesaucefdc.com/what-is-applesauce/
