HN comment orderMany companies in the games industry have settled on using Perforce or SVN (or more recently Plastic DVCS) internally as, out of the box, it can handle both code and non-code assets (i.e. large binary files) well in tandem. Git has problems with the latter - people have tried to correct this with solutions like git-annex and git-LFS but these have failed to catch on thus far.
Project is seemingly dead with the latest commit being from 2018. Two major games with code on github I can think of are Amnesia: The Dark Descent (1) and Celeste (2) (1) https://github.com/FrictionalGames/AmnesiaTheDarkDescent (2) https://github.com/NoelFB/Celeste
The first top-level comment from each of the four biggest threads, in HN’s own order. Excerpts are shortened; open a comment for full context.
