HN comment orderRecently got into this and have mapped most of my area. There's a bit of insecure networks that I could hop on but it's mostly noise in the sea of the internet. The most interesting thing I have discoved so far is that my elderly neighbors have a CPAP machine. I found out because that CPAP broadcasts BLE. I didn't look much into it, but medical devices shouldn't be broadcasting anything imo.
My first WiGLE upload was in 2013. I like collecting the data about my local areas, if big tech and the government can why can't I? I also upload and click allow for commerical use. I believe this data ends up in OpenStreetMap? It's been a while. I'm primarily interested in interacting with the data programmatically to see if I can suss out anything "interesting". Interestingly Mozilla used to work on a similar project for wifi based location discovery. It also had a neat app to log hotspots with an Android GPS capable smartphone.
For some reason I feel violated that it shows my wifi network's name and mac.
