This is a cool example of what Bret Victor calls an "Explorable Explanation" [0]. That said, I feel that it's more important to understand how and why matrix multiplication corresponds to a composition of linear transformations than learning the actual mechanics of doing the computation. You can get good at matrix multiplication without knowing what is going on. The animation looks really neat but I did not find it very helpful from an pedagocical perspective which is why I built an alternative version inspired by OP. [1] /edit: I just noticed the OP is built by andrestaltz with Cycle.js. Cycle is a really nice reactive programming js framework that is very great to work with. Oh hey, that's actually really cool. I never knew how matrix multiplication worked. Honestly, there's a lot of maths I don't necessarily understand as well as I should, but this gives me hope that I will one day be able to get that understanding.

1. Needs a back button. 2. It might be more illustrative if the transposed vectors pass over the matrix one by one. In the default example - you take the [2 6 1] vector and show how its dot products populate the final matrix, then do the same for the [5 7 8] vector. That's closer to the way I think about matrix multiplication.
