/e/ is mud among the LineageOS community (which is upstream of it), due to several reasons. Sadly I can't find the relevant /r/lineageOS posts . So it looks like, right now, the latest that can be had is the OS based on Android 15. That's 9 months after Android 16 release. That's multiple patches, bugfixes and security updates not available from the outset. TBF i don't think a phone can actually be private without being secure.
