HN comment orderGuide should probably mention automatically updated Chrome extensions. There have been multiple cases where the owner of a popular extension sold it to a 3rd party that pushed out malicious updates. Tab Manager is the most recent instance that comes to mind: http://security.stackexchange.com/a/130600 Chrome does disable extensions when an update requires new permissions, but that won't catch malicious updates to extensions that require extensive permissions for basic functionality.
This has popped up a bunch of times before: https://hn.algolia.com/?query=macOS%20Security%20and%20Priva... It's not good. See: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=17904304
There is some seriously folkloric jibber-jabber in here. For instance, you do not need to wait until after installation to enable FileVault because "there is more entropy available to the system". Nor can you test the security of a CSPRNG by running "ent" on it! In the same vein: don't run out and sign up for a commercial OpenVPN hosting service, and for Christ's sake don't install AV software on your Mac. I kind of love how this is like…
